Well, Dogs will do anything to please, so they APPEAR to us as being most intelligent..

However the True Brain, is sitting back, laughing at the dog for doing stupid tricks.

Watch the two in action, leave a piece of chicken on the counter, the cat will wait till you are gone and then ever so carefully and quietly go and reap his rewards..

The dog, will sit there and bark, or beg, or finally just jump up, and knock whatever down to get the blasted piece of chicken that you obviously forgot to give them. *LOL*

Honestly, my cats are Very Smart, but they show it in Different ways than the dogs. They don't care if they make me happy, in the process.

Dogs are more intelligent. They understand more words than cats do.

That really depends on your definition of intelligence. Dogs take direction and learn. They definitely do that better than cats. BUT, cats are able to manipulate us, and get us to do what they want. Cats think more of themselves, and how to get us to do what they want. Wheras dogs do what we want so that we reward them. So if you think it is ability to learn, then its dogs, if you think intelligence is ability to manipulate the word around them, its cats.

i have had cats and dogs all my life. so this is what i think ,,,,, dogs are wanting to please us more so they appear smarter than a cat. cats are so independent that they could care less about pleasing us. so they seem dumber than a dog. i do have a cat that is an exception to that rule tho. i have taught him his name ,,, which he answers to. taught him to lay down when told to. at times i think he thinks he is a dog!! lol ,,, i have heard that dogs understand a lot more words than a cat soooo ,,, who knows!!

CATS

think abotu it---dogs come when they are called, do tricks for food, bark at everything

cats on the other hand---they come when they want to, iggore you when called, do what they want, they still get pampered and petted--and lay aroudn and sleep most of the day

Now I ask you who is smarter?
