Do not set a specific time limit when it comes to trying to lose weight because, if you don't reach it, (and you probably won't) it'll depress you and cause you to gain weight back.
Take it easy and do things the right way. Don't think about your weight, don't even step on a scale. Just eat small, healthy meals three times a day, drink plenty of water, and exercise regularly.

Now first off, depending on what your starting weight is, you may not reach that goal. A thinner person have a harder time losing weight than a larger person.
An hour of cardio exercise daily and eating plenty of heathy food is a good way to start. One thing you must keep in mind is to not over work yourself when you're starting, do what you can! It might only be a few minutes on a treadmill. You're not on the biggest loser, you don't have to go to the extreme to lose weight.
Once you get used to exercising daily and eating the right foods, you can add in some harder things, like spending more time doing cardio workouts or weight training or sit-ups which will tone your body and get rid of the possibility of excess skin (again, this will mostly have to do with your starting weight).

Drink plenty of water, never get dehydrated! Don't become malnurished! You might think that skipping a meal or not eating enough will make you lose faster. Sure it will, but it can also land you a one way ticket to the hospital!!!

Probably one of the most important things is to ask your physician before making any drastic lifestyle changes, they'll know what's best for you and if you should be losing this weight.

Safe weight loss is no more than 1-2 pounds per week, so in 5 months you could safely lose about 40 pounds. The best way to lose weight is to eat healthy, and exercise. If you are eating healthy and exercising and still not losing weight, cut your food portions in half, eat more vegetables and less bread/rice/grain products. Choose lean proteins with your meals and eat a small amount of fruit with every meal. Cut out all junk foods including sugar, fried foods, sodas, white grains (white flour, white rice, etc.) Eat only whole grains. Make sure you do not go without food for longer than 4 hours (except overnight of course) to increase your metabolism and burn more energy. Drink plenty of water. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day (up to 60) for 3 days a week (cardio), alternating weight training on the opposite days.
good luck!

It is a challenge, but it all starts in your own self support. I would suggest that you exercise at least 4 days a week. What you can do is jog with a sweater on. It makes you sweat alot, but also make sure you drink a lot of water, so you don't dehydrate. Also watch what you eat, and always try to keep your body happy.
Before you go to sleep, try to do basic exercise inside your house.
(I am just telling you what i used to do, it sounds hard, but 50 pounds in just 5 months requires it, I am a wrestler and that is what i do) Good luck, trust your self.

I lost 10 pounds in one month without changing my diet or enduring a brutal exercise program. All I did was eat less. For instance, I cut out all snacks, ate only when I felt hungry, and stopped eating as soon as I felt satiated, often leaving food on my plate. During the evening I ate nothing. I often went to be hungry which may interfere with sleep at first but you get used to it. The only exercise I performed was a daily thirty minute walk.

Since approximately 60% of the human body is water it's possible to loose at least 10lbs per week by jogging and sweating. So if u want fast results I suggest u wear a plastic sweat suit and jog or run on the treadmill for at least 1hr or more everyday. The more u sweat the more weight u r likely to loose, in addition u should diet (eat low fat meals).

I have your answer, go to http://www.sparkpeople.com The best FREE site out there, others charge $$ for the same resources.

There you can use their system to make perfect meal plans based on your 5 month 50 lbs goal. They will prepare the meal plan for the week & you can interchange products at will according to your liking, with keeping with the daily caloric requirement they set for you.

That along with a good exercise regimen, that is not too stringent, & again based to your liking, you will no doubt reach your goals.

Wish you the BEST, you can do it!!!

Low carb did it for me. I went with a 15 carb limit per day. It worked great for me. I lost about 55lbs in 3 months with a lot of slacking.
