Of the 20 major metro areas, Houston, Pittsburgh and St. Louis are the 3 least expensive. But leave the big city, and you'll find even more options.

Small, Mid-west towns. Where we live in Kansas, a 2 bedroom single wide moble home goes for $150 plus utilities. A regular house can be $250 to $375.
There are jobs at around $7 to $10. hr., so you can get by.

you can find cheap rent anywhere. depends on what kind of neighborhood you want. closer you are to a big city the higher the rent. anything real rural will be cheaper.

I wouldn't move somewhere just cause of cheap rent. Where do you really want to live? You can always get roomies.

concern: once you progression right into a low-priced section, you detect out why it is so low-priced. I retired to a 'good to Starve" state. NYC is costly, even yet it rather is NYC. you may stay in Florida greater low-priced, yet you're residing in Florida.
