Heterosexuality is certainly more common than homosexuality, but it doesn't make homosexuality abnormal.
There are abnormal sexual desires among the ranks of ALL sexual orientations. Gay people don't have the market on perversion. If we did, the porn industry wouldn't be a multi-billion dollar business in the United States.
Our society is sometimes narrow-minded. Not much we can do about those who won't even consider anything beyond what they think and believe today. Most people don't care either way or regarding the subject of homosexuality. Even most religious people don't really care. There is just a very noisy bunch who hate us with more passion than a than a Mel Gibson movie.
Even though I have always said that science would figure it all out at some point, I have also always said that it doesn't really matter if gay people are born that way or "chose" it .
It shouldn't matter at all. VERY few gay people think they made a choice to be homosexual. Most claim to have tried very hard to not be gay. Only straight people who think gay people shouldn't be gay think it is a choice. I wouldn't trust a person who has never been gay, and has an irrational hatred for homosexuality to know or tell the truth on the matter.
I am aware of the diferences between gay and straight. I am aware that I'm out numbered by at least 90%. I just don't feel abnormal. I feel like I'm the same as everybody else. Some of us are kinkier than others and some are not.
Your statement "I am classed as the norm by our society" troubles me a great deal. I don't agree. You may be somewhat normal, but your sexual orientation isn't the deciding factor in that classification.
Mine isn't either.

Homosexuality is an abnormal lifestyle simply because nature intended males to co habitate and reproduce with females. Not males with males or females with other females.
This is not to come across as being anti gay so don't misinterpret what I am saying. Just think about it, why else would God put two different genders of the same species on the planet??
Two men cannot have a biological child together nor can two women. Nature intended it to be that it takes 1 male and 1 female to produce a child. Anything else does not make any common sense at all.
Quite frankly, I could care less what two people do together in the privacy of their own bedroom. What I do find offensive is that some radical gays and lesbians try to force their lifestyle on the rest of us so they will be more accepted in our society. Just as getting hot and heavy in public. It is equally as offensive for a heterosexual couple to do that as it is for a homosexual couple.

My guess is that it's a nurture thing. Without being an expert on gayness, I think people 'develop into' homosexuality during childhood, because they don't get along with their same-sex parent. Gay men don't tend to get along with their fathers, and lesbians don't really get along with their mothers; so they seek the love they 'missed' from someone of the same sex.
I don't think it's an abnormaility, or a flaw though. That opinion just comes from cranky religions and narrow-mindedness. Everyone is different, and that includes the way we love others and see ourselves. After all, it would be very boring if we all loved the same way wouldn't it?
There are some aspects of gay 'culture' I don't really like (the judging, the bitching, the rack etc) but there are also aspects which are really cool (the colour, the vibrancy, the humour).
It adds another dimension to humanity.

I under no circumstances somewhat understand what the fuss is about. I advise some human beings are gay, large deal! in spite of if someone did chosen to be gay, why would others care? human beings could ideas their own company. each and absolutely everyone has the right to love all people he/she needs. If 2 human beings love one yet another, what damage can or not that is? The question about abnormality, i don't think of it really is. that is undemanding in animals too. some human beings would say that if each and absolutely everyone became gay, human species would extinct. therefore, being gay is undesirable. nicely, initially, each and absolutely everyone isn't gay. or perhaps each and absolutely everyone became gay, we've the technologies to reproduce with no need sex with the different sex. BTW, i'm no longer keeping being gay is a decision. yet in spite of if it became, i does no longer see something incorrect with it.

People are BORN gay. Bullshit. If someone knows the definition of gay they won't be telling that they are born gay.
No being gay is loving someone of the same sex. That mean when they get old they have feeling towards the same sex. Mostly people have feeling for the other sex. This happens not because of any genetic disorder it's only the mind. They think differently.
If can isolate any DNA flaw regarding to being gay then I'll accept that being gay is genetic. That is extremely difficult.
I'll say that it is the mind. If you make up your mind gays will be able to be straight once again.

I often feel abnormal, but not because I like girls. I think it may be a "flaw in the genetic wiring" in the same sense that albinism or the ability to wiggle your ears are. The thing about being gay is that you tend to surround yourself with other gay people, so I would say that gays that are totally immersed in "straight" society would be much more likely to feel abnormal than those with a good support system.
Have a pleasant day!

Science is now leaning in the direction of a biological basis for homosexuality. For the past 35 years, psychology has said that being homosexual is not a disease/disorder, and its not something that needs to be changed.
There are people who are not homosexual, and also who don't reproduce. Some heterosexuals are not capable of reproducing, and some choose not to.
Unfortunately, gay people do go through a process of feeling abnormal - until they discover the LGBT community and also come to terms with their sexual orientation.

I personallly believe that you are born with it. It's like having blue eyes, or brown or green. And humans don't always have sex to procreate, like some animals such as the dolphin.
Also, what is normal? What society points out that the majority of a population appears to follow? Just because it's not as common and everyday as you might think doesn't make it normal. I used to think that homosexuality wasn't normal and now I have approx. 60 gay/lesbian friends and it's the most "normal" thing I can think of.

I believe that people are born with the sexual orientation they have. I don't believe most people would choose to be gay, since it is obviously so much more dificult to be so in our society. Is it abnormal? That depends on who you are. It isn't abnormal to me since I am bi and also have many gay friends and family members. If you have never met a gay, lesbian or bi person, then it might seem abnormal to you. I think more than anything, it has to do with the fact that gays are in the minority in our society. Throughout time, most minorities have been considered abnormal by the people who don't know them very well.

Homosexuality is innate. They way one is created. It is not a flaw anymore than being left hand dominate. It is part of the DNA strand in each of us that decides biological outcomes. The occurrence of being left hand dominate is about equal to being homosexual. There was a time when being left-handed was thought to be a choice. Teachers would constantly try to "break" students from using their left hands to write. Finally, with good cause, that practice was stopped. Many of those children who were not allowed to use their dominate hand, developed learning disabilities. It sounds archaic and inhumane, like blood letting from the 17th and 18th centuries. One of these days, hopefully sooner rather than later, the narrow minded, uneducated bigots will see their error. Homosexuality will no longer be viewed as abnormal, just another flavor like blond hair and brown hair. Incidentally, having red hair, green eyes and fair skin is a genetic flaw, but we welcome the variety, not try to change or punish those with the described characteristics.
