YES THE WHOLE CREW

2006-06-28 12:39:08 · answer #1 · answered by Penney S 6 · 0 0

I have to work on the 3rd, and we will have every available person on duty.

I work in a supermarket, and we have to have a full crew in all departments for the people who will be celebrating with barbecues or picnics. Instead of the normal three clerks at the deli, there will be ten to slice and wrap cold cuts. The fresh bakery will have all five clerks working, and the dairy department is expecting two extra deliveries throughout the day, so somebody needs to put that stuff up on the shelf.

Every single cash register will be working, and every one of them will have a bagger. Instead of one, there will be three guys out in the parking lot collecting shopping carts. All the other departments will have extra staff to help people find things, or help people load up their cars.

And before you ask why people wait till the last minute to do their holiday shopping, stop and think: this is the middle of summer. Meat will spoil if it's not kept cold enough, and even in the fridge, it will spoil if you leave it hanging around too long. Add to that the fact that the majority of people who are throwing these parties do not have enough room in the fridge for long-term storage, and you have the recipe for an extremely busy and chaotic day at the supermarket.

Yup :-( Gotta work. Unless someone was lucky enough to get their vacation day approved, they have to show up on Monday! Even the courthouses are open. A friend of mine has jury duty!!!
