Ok, if it were me doing this in my back yard...

First, I would dig a trench. I would dig it three feet deep! Why? you will find out...

I would get underground rated cable and "then" put it in the pvc pipe, 3/4" for easier threading, and glue it in, once you are putting it through and can grab it at each piece.

Now, why the three feet...

After you bury the cable in 2' of soil, I would lay a "tape", that would say burried cable. (Check with your electrical supply store for the tape).

Then, after you lay this down, bury it competely and (important), MAKE A DIAGRAM of where you laid it and burried the cable. Take a picture of it, and put it in a scrap book, so that when it comes time to do another project, you will have the exact place where its laid, and how deep and all the specifics.

(I make it a point, every time I do some remodeling, I enter it all in a log, with pictures if possible, or needed, and the dimensions of everything, so that if I 'need' to find a stud or a certain wire or anything in the walls or ground, I will know where exactly it is).

Now, after you have the pvc pipe by the gazebo, run it to about one foot up the trench in the verticle position, then, take regular black pipe, and add connectors to the pvc, and teflon tape, or a sealant so that its water proof, and bring the black pipe up, two feet to the surface of the trench, then one foot more, or how ever is necesary to get your desired height.

The reason for the pipe is, that it will be "stiff" and if some one leans or falls against it, it will not "break", but be stiff, and rigid so that you will not break the assembly and compromise the saftey of whom ever falls against it, by shorting out the wire if it were to get cut by a pvc sharp edged pipe.

Add your GFI components to the top of the pipe, and make your wife happy with all the comforts of home with your nice gazeebo.

I wish you well..

Jesse

the easies way is to get some out door cable from your local hard ware store the kind that can be barried and wont get hurt by water or anythign then get an out door plug while your at it and run it fromt he breaker box to the gazeebo underground and put the plg on the most dryest area of the gazeebo but make sure its for out door use to keep water out . u can hard wire it to the breaker box of the house or make like a baried extensioncord deal with the wire underground and stick it to the gazeebo then just plug in to out let on house.

denied insurance claims are the norm with electric not installed to local codes. minimum code is 18 inches below grade pvc pipe or dirict burial cable will do 12 gauge wire at least to cover voltage drops...cheaper to go wireless and more versitile with your laptop

Absolutely. You should first check with your local building permit department (city, county, etc) for permit requirements and for the particular local code. This is the only way to ensure you won't be fined, have to pull it all out and, worse of all, be subject to being denied insurance coverage if you have a claim related to that.

I would recommend digging a trench, and running extension cords through PBC pipe. Its cheap, durable and water proof!

Most code require UF (underground feeder) cable, conduit and the GFCI. CHECK YOUR LOCAL CODES.
