Talk to her, get help before she goes to jail.

Your friend has a BIG problem. If you are with her and she is caught, you will also be arrested! You will both go through some fairly awful stuff, such as being searched, hand-cuffed, taken to juvenile hall in a police car. There you will again be searched. Your belongings such as your clothes and other items will be taken from you, you will be allowed to call your parents, then locked in a cell till someone arranges for you to be released. This can take several days.(And I have left out some of the ugliest items) Your friend sound like she is in need of counseling, which means she will need to find an adult who can speak to her parents to get this girl the help she needs, before the police are involved and everything gets real bad FAST!

First, do not go shopping with her. Second, do not receive anything from her that was stolen. Third, pray for her; that she will get counseling and understand why she shoplifts; get her to admit she is a kleptomaniac. You cannot change unless you admit you have a problem. I hope this helps. A trusted advisor, teacher, or parent should be told about this if she is under the age of 18. If she is over 18, be careful because you could be an accessory.

Be honest with your friend, tell her it is dangerous, let her know how she is messing her life, a shoplifting record goes on forever and can prevent her from going to certain colleges, working in certain fields, such as nursing, etc.

Talk to your mom, but don't go with her when she is shoplifting, if you are with her you may also get charged and stores are prosecuting more people every day.

DO you have a friend who is in the police force or a preacher that may talk with her.

Tell her you like her as a friend, but, that her behavior is unacceptable and that you will try to get her some help, even try your school counselor for ways to help.

Tell her to steal from Wal-Mart only.....ok....just kidding..... tell her to shoplift in a country under Sharia law...the fact of the matter is this....what she is doing is wrong and she will learn her lesson sooner or later...her deceptive behavior is putting her on a path that she will eventually have to decide what is important...not ask her friend to stop her. It is called learning life lesson and time has a way of putting things in your path...she will make the right choice eventually... It doesn't sound like she very interested in stopping, call your local police and see if they have a intervention program

She wants to stop? That's a good 1st step! See if she'll go to counseling to discover what problem in her life she is trying to avoid. She probably knows, but may be afraid to face it alone - reassure her you will love her not matter why she does it, and be there for her!

Talk to her in private, suggest counseling and of course have her confide in her Mother and Father so they can help her, she has a sickness and it can be cured if she get the help she needs.

LET HER GET CAUGHT!!!

Shoplifters are criminals. If she can get away with it, then whatever. If she gets caught, then she gets what she deserves. Let her learn on her own...
