My grandmother had the same problem just a couple of months ago. Short of calling a exterminator, if you can find the places the ants seem to be coming in get a bottle of Dove dishwashing soap and spread some soap on the areas with the most ants. My grandmother did this and it seemed to help get rid of alot of the ants. Of course they didn't completely go away, but this ought to help until you can call someone in to exterminate them or find something else that works better.

Bait encourages ants. If the ants are outside, you are best off not worrying about them. They are territorial, and can be defenders against termites.
If the ants are inside, you have cracks, and the best way to deal with it is to crawl around until you find the cracks, and seal them with caulk, putty, or whatever is best for the surface. In the meantime, clean up the ant line with warm soapy water, and then use Raid or other spray to create a "dead zone" for the ants at the entry crack.

Buy 20 Mule Team Borax laundry soap and put it in one of the cheape ketchup squirt bottles that you can buy from a dollar store, apply it around baseboards, kitchen cabinets, anywhere you see the ants. They will carry it back to their nest and it will kill them....leave lay out for a few days until you no longer see any signs of the ants, vacuum up the excess laundry soap and you will have the remainder of the soap to do laundry with. I have used this for years to rid the house of ants and it works.

Killing the wandering ants isn't killing the nest. Find the nest then ust a liquid ant killer on it. keep an eye on it because they might move to a different location or they have a very deep nest. treat it again after about 3-4 weeks if they are still there

If they are the small sweet eating ants Terro is the best. You place a dime size drop on a piece of cardboard and they eat it and carry it back to the nest and it kills them. Works GREAT

i have found that pouring salt in the ant holes causes them to go away. you should pour the salt in any crack or hole that you think ants are coming out of. i know it sounds weird but it really worked for me

Try sprinkling a line of black pepper across all of your doorways into the house. Believe it or not it really does work and you can put it close to the wall from side to side so that you aren't stepping in it. Good Luck....

I read that if you put vinegar around the perimeter of the house it will keep them away. You have to reapply it every time it rain though. Good luck
