If you want a portable DVD burner (which also burns CD's), an external burner is the way to go. They are generally more expensive than internal, but you can use the burner on 2 or more computers, and are portable to use on laptops, etc.

I'm presuming you're from Australia, so retail stores such as Officeworks, Harvey Norman and Bing Lee should have a range of these. Look out for the price, if it concerns you, and brand. Apparently LG is no good, and many cheaper brands work as well as expensive brands such as Sony or Pioneer.

Try Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy, look for Extrernal Drive burners

You can look at anyone of the local retailers like Best Buy, CompUSA, Frys. Or, Online from Best Buy, CompUSA, TigerDirect, CDW, NewEgg, etc. There are lots of options out there, in fact, the link below will take you to an HP unit from TigerDirect that connects via USB for $99. Not a bad deal.

Yes, best buy has some. I just bought a bitchin one from Adorama.com that can burn digital image files straight from a memory card to a dvd or cd
