We are trying to puchase our first home and have been running into obstacles galore. This last inquiry informed me of the so-called bankruptcy done 2 years ago just on my spouse. This is impossible and he doesn't know what is going on either. We are also having problems with possible stolen identity. We are at a loss here and don't know what to do. We need to have this rectified as soon as possible so that we can proceed with the house purchase. There were also three popups that we have contested to two of them, one has been resolved.

Get copies of your credit reports from all of the major reporting agencies. Challenge the bankruptcy.

Your lender can also "fast-track" the cleanup process and get your credit re-scored. There is a small fee for this, typically about $50.00 per item on the credit record. This is the fastest way to get this cleared.

RE I applied for a loan and was that my spouse filed bankruptcy which he didn't. What can I do prove otherwise?

one of the fastest way is to open a account with truecredit.com. They are a reputable agency to pull all three of your reports up along with alerts to let you know who is checking you credit & help you see your scores before you go loan shopping. This also does no harm to your scores so that your rating does not drop any lower. You can file a dispute online with 2 of the three agencies & explain the situation so they can look into it for you. Also you can place a fraud alert thru these agencies so that any further purchases with your name & social are verified with more information. The other one which would be equifax once you request your report online with true credit it will give you the number to call. This will take three weeks. Keep on them so they don't forget you & remeber to have whatever personal information regarding your accounts available when you talk to them. Also If you have any other questions you can email me thru here.

Continue contesting . . . .
Also, can you purchase the home yourself (without your husband's income)? If so, this is the quickest and easiest way to complete a purchase. My sister had the same issues - they were able to purchase the house without the husband on the mortgage.
