It is true. I'm a liberal, not democrat tho.

Many people agree with that, though. Democrats today run with the idea that: We're not Republicans. Republicans, on the other hand are firmly seen on all issues. If a republican is firm on one issue you can be sure the democrats will take the opposite. The democrat party needs to solidify.

I know not all democrats are like that, but there are a lot. Look through Amazon.com at books. A lot of democrat writers have writen their opinions on the matter.

I AM liberal and do believe republicans are wrong (in certain instances) but I know why, which is something that democrats and republicans have to work on. I've seen it way too many times where Republicans act immature on this site. I know they're not all immature and a lot are very smart. I'm just sick of name-calling.

yes... and conservatives know all the reasons why they identify with their party... hahaha... the majority say "morals" and give you a blank stare after that...

morals in the party of Delay and Cheney? whatever...

It actually seems that conservatives have no idea who is a Democrat any more... if someone says something "anit-Bush" you immediately label the person a "liberal" and then wonder why the person doesn't know anything about the party... it's because THEY AREN'T ACTUALLY MEMBERS OF THE PARTY, they just have enough sense to see through Bush's "policies"

I don't think that most Democrats are ignorant of why they identify with their party. I will acknowledge that many Dems cite historic and cultural events that led them to their party affiliation, but with the help of organizations designed to educate our youth on the general beliefs and policies of the various political organizations, many young Dems are choosing the party because it better reflects their personal beliefs.

The Democratic Party has never been what we want it to be--though at times it’s been much, much closer to it. We and those who have come before us have tried to reform it and failed again and again.

The approach to Democrats, even progressive Democrats, is not one of subservience, but of useful pressure. A fair number of elected representatives want to move left on various issues, but are reluctant to do so in the absence of public pressure. This is all we can wish for.

We’ll put on coats and ties and meet with them. We’ll flood their mailboxes, fax machines and telephones. And we’ll protest their actions through nonviolent civil disobedience. We’ll do what it takes to take back our country from robber barons, war profiteers and gangsters, whatever party they try to call their own. We’ll succeed if you help us.
