I'm a teacher. I'm doing exactly what I've always wanted to do for a living. I'm not settling either...I'll be going back to school to get my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, then, my PhD in Administration. I'm very ambitious, and persistent. I believe that I have all that it takes (including intelligence) to do whatever I set my mind to.

I moved to LA 10 years ago to pursue screenwriting as a career. I got a Masters Degree in it [gulp!] and have been trying ever since. I can't seem to completely give up on it, as that seems like it would be giving up on a life-long dream, then what the hell would I be left with?
Since then, I've worked a series of boring & humiliating & low-paying employment, chosen to leave me as much time & energy as possible. It sucks. I feel like a failure, yet honestly can't think of any career that I would love to sink my teeth into. I'm certainly not settling in this career, just need to eat.
This is what I can't figure out: is having a dream a curse or a blessing? Sometimes I feel luckier than people who simply have no idea what they want, people who just do any old job. Other times feel like this dream is a curse: something that will make me frustrated and unhappy, as I strive for something that will always be just out of reach.
Have a great day!

I'd rather be a movie star, but instead I'm settling for a middle class retirement at a very early age. Not having to play the game at all is so hypnotic, I'm not sure I can go back to that filthy nightmare.

I don't feel like I am settling at all. I accidently found my job;actually it found me. I went to work for the state when I was young not long out of college. I was asked to train for an elder abuse investigator position. I am now the supervisor and I really love seeing my workers help someone out in need!

some dreams are just that. some just cannot be reached within normal parameters. eventually your head comes down from the clouds and realizes real life matters, not dreams.
