I think he needs to go home... but what do you think? The only english referee and he gets a red card from fifa! Does he make the english look bad? If you're not english, what do you think of the english? Do you think he had any good moments in the cup? I'll leave it to you....

Also, the referee in the holland portugal match has been axed... what do you think of that aye?

Praise the Lord...divine intervention in relation to the referee's mentioned. More should follow. I think Fifa have reacted for two reasons. 1) To save face. They have been abysmal. The ultimate responsibility lay at their feet. They have been embarrassed into acting on this problem. 2) It has gone too far. Some referee's cannot control the ego's and power that come with the privilege of having the centre in such an important world wide tournament. They wanted their 15 minutes of fame. They got it and now their well deserved plane tickets home, hopefully never to be given the responsibility again.

No I don't think he makes the English look bad. It is not their fault. It was his game and his decision how he chose to control it. He failed miserably. But so have many other very experienced referee's.

I do not have anything against English people. They are no different to any of us. Passionate about the game and love to support their sides. We all have our share of biased supporters and all have times when we as people as well as our country re their football, perform or offer less than we are capable of.

He did have one good moment in the cup...he left it.

Well, that shows that even referees have to do a good job, or be axed. Poll's performance in the Australia vs Croatia match was poor, almost unbelievable. No wonder FIFA sent him home.

I don't think it will make England look bad. Most people don't know where the refs are from. And even if they do, it doesn't necessarily equates to the country's football performance.

Poll is a dreadful referee, he shouldn't have been selected at all.

He thinks he's the reason people come to stadiums to watch matches and forgets it's the players.

He loves controversy, refusing to give clear penalties but calling iffy ones.

Anyone watching premiership games will attest to this, with that sheepish smile of his when ignoring blatant fouls.

Mr Ivanov was always going to go back after Herr Blatter made his point. If the president doesn't want you, there's no way, you can continue.

I think that Poll deserved to go, his refereeing was disgraceful. Also I do not think he is the best in the premiership, I have seen many of his performances and they have not been up to scratch. I don't know who elects which referee should go but I think a policy should be implemented in which the public have a say in which referee they believe is the best in the country and should be sent so that we can avoid embarrasments like this from happening.

poll messed up alright, and i aint a fan of the english, but still lets remember these people aint full time professional there partt timers, they have tons of pressure from commentators , managers, players, supporters and fifa and sometime they mess up as is human, when refs become professional then when they mess up they should be punishement for a poor job, the previous comments in no way mean i actually like refs, lets not go nuts
