Sounds like you love her a lot more than anyone realises and she's very lucky to have a caring partner like you :) ... Just talk to her and ask her if she won't mind to wear something that you'd like to see her in and it'll make you happy just to see her in something new, unique and beautiful (even though she's already beautiful just the way she is). If you put it like that, she'll won't be feeling too self-concious and she'll know that it makes you happy to see her in something different. Knowing it will help her to open up a little to the new possibilities of different looks and outfits.
If she'll say she'll think about it, give her time to do that... eventually she'll be able to do wear something interesting without any problems :)
I'm the same way, and the only way at times I can know if my Husband likes something is to come over to him and ask his opinion ("Honey, what do you think? I got this today...") about what I'm wearing and he's always more than happy to tell me the answer to my question(s). Sometimes I still don't know what kind of things to wear for him, but asking him and approaching him with the "concern" is always more than helpful :) At times it makes it a lot easier for the shy / self-conscious types to say something in a form of a question so that way we'll be able to get an answer and an opinion from the loving and caring partners... We are learning from the day-by-day experiences and patient people around us, even if it seems like we act like a clam more often than not :)
Don't worry, just be patient with her, give her a little bit of time to get used to this idea (and put it into action), and everything will be alright :)

Buy her some really soft conservative stuff that she can wear out, not that stupid nightie stuff, Most women would rather sleep in a beg Tee shirt, or soft PJ's
Get her a nice outfit like a matching camisole, garter belt and stockings. Make it an outfit, women love matching things, and make sure its soft ans slippery. All lace stuff can be scratchy. I love wearing a garbled and nylons, I always feel so feminine wearing them, and it may be fun for her.

Buy her some lingerie or give her a gift certificate. Make her feel special. Tell her you'll do something sexy for her. I can think of one thing i'd like more of from my man...Use your imagination.
