Ok anyways I have three questions that I really want to know the answers to.

1.) Why would you supposedly "choose" to be gay, when you know that you are going to be judged and ridiculed by people who you thought were your friends, some family, and people you don't even know??

2.) Why do people insist that you are not born gay and that it is proven you aren't, when it is proven that you are born that way and their rock hard evidence that suggests it has something to do with you brain and is as normmal as being straight??

3.) Why do people constantly quote the bible with it's lies, know God didn't even write it and never said you would go to hell if you are gay?? (Trust me, he didn't say a word.)

Just want the truth, not any religous bullsh*t. 10 points to the best and smartes answer.

1) When I told my sister I was gay she said "well it's about time you chose to be honest with yourself and everyone." She often tells people when they say things like "gay people choose to be gay" she responds by saying "Yes, they actually choose to be honest with other people about who they are and accept how they were born even despite the fact that others will still judge them. How often do you pretend to be someone your not just to 'fit in'?" She even simplified the phrase to "You don't choose to be gay, but you do choose whether you're honest with others or not."

2) There will always be people who will want to prove to you that their way is right and all other ways are wrong, it doesn't matter what the topic is.

3) There are two types of people that usually quote from the Bible (or sacred texts). Those that are deeply religious and express almost everything through their religion. You can usually identify these people rather easily. Almost everything that deals with deep issues are usually thought through from a religious perspective (and not all of them are antigay, antiabortion, etc...they just happen to shape their perspectives based upon their spirituality and then when they try to explain their perspective they haven't usually taken the time to find other ways of expressing themselves outside of the religious language that they are familiar with). The second type is actually two fold. Some in the second type are those who have never bothered to actually read or study the very religion they claim. They simply repeat what they have heard they are supposed to believe by those who say they have read or studied the religion. The other type are those who have read and studied the religion, but take it all literal and do not bother to see the deeper meanings that are to be found in the sacred texts. They are "legalists" when it comes to the practice of their religion. Meaning, they aren't seeking deeper or more profound understanding of things, they are just following what they believe to be the rules. Basically, they have a surface spirituality. Religion and spirituality are something that is done outward not inward. Thus they cannot understand those like in the first group who may quote the sacred texts and yet believe something different than they do, yet they get frustrated by those who claim to be of the religion but do not read or study the religion itself and are therefore seen as ignorant by this group. When they quote the Bible they are doing it for two reasons: the first is just to inform you of what they believe and the second is to try to get you to believe that way, too (remember, they get frustrated by people who hold different views and by those who are ignorant of what the religion 'truly' teaches based upon the surface).

As a Hindu who has had many conversations with people who quote from the Bible I definately have seen how frustrated they get with me. That said, this is how I can tell the two different types of people apart. If they quote the Bible and we start discussing the issue from a religious/spiritual basis I will do so from my Hindu perspective. While we still may not agree with one another, there is a profound respect for each other and each other's religious point of views. That's from the first group. We find understanding with each other because we now both discussing matters from a completely spiritual/religious perspective, even though we come from two different religions. The second group then is equally as easy to identify. Those who simply quote from their religion but have no knowledge of it also have no knowledge of other religions, in general, or have false information. When I have to correct them about what Hindus do and do not believe they often reshape their argument. If they persist with a religious argument and I quote something from their sacred text or from their religion that counters what they are saying that usually causes them to either end the discussion or to start to reshape by either trying to use science, culture, politics. Thus the conversation is no longer religiously based. The last group would never move from a religious argument. They will persist with the religious argument, declare that what you are saying about your religion is a lie (because afterall they know more about what you believe than you) and if you dare quote from their religion you will be told how ignorant you are (even though you were once a missionary for that religion, like I was with Christianity) and if it really starts to decay they will result to name calling. To which a person has two options. You can either name call back or just stop the conversation. I, personally, usually just say something like "May Gods' love and peace be with you always" and say goodbye. You have to realize that these people aren't really interested in debating anything and hearing your perspective. They are out to win, win, win the discussion (and try to convert you). So if it's gotten down to name calling or you really start to see that this is the group of people you are talking to, just realize that as far as they are concerned, regardless of how the debate went, they believe they won.

Thanks for the question.

Peace be with you.

Whose 'supposedly chooses' to be gay? You either are or your are not. What you do with your life is your business who cares what others think of you, and those who think immorally of you need to sit back and realize somone probably thinks something of them as well, and they are in no position to think this way. Everyone needs to just mind their business, be who they are, and stop interferring with everyone else. what somone else does is there thing, not anyone else's.

it's not 100% proven either way that you can be born gay or hetro, that is why there are studies going on to figure out the question on the universe can you be born with it or not? is 42 the real answer to everything?

people who quote the bible were raised to believe every word of it, those people attended church regualarly and listened to some person claiming to be the teather of the word, its like if i picked up the bible and read it cover to cover i could go into a church and say i am the teacher of god i have read the bible cover to cover i know all.. Its those who think if you do not live like these words state you are hellbound, unfortuneatly no one follows the bible as its written, hetros will ridicule anyone that is different from them rather any religion that forces their religion upon someone who believes something else, because they are wrong to believe what they were raised to believe they are hellbound, i can guarantee those who cite the bible falsly, need to re read it, also those who do so break more rules and regulations in the book they follow than they know. If we are all created as the image of any certain god, and we live our lives like we are supposed to without interferrence from books, people, or things that corrupt the world today of this kind we will all find our own paths believe what we want, do what we want and everything would be fine.

People try to justify their opinions because they are scared, or they dont know, people are afraid of the unknown, so if more people were informed that a gay person like me can love, can lead a perfectly normal life, and has absolutley no reason why they are gay, they just are, then maybe they will stop looking for answers in all the wrong places, they will just know. Anyone who askes me about being gay is afraid that I will get mad or hurt, but I have absolutely no problem informing people in any way I can. If more people would just ask, they wouldn't be so afraid.

I wonder the same things all the time. I have personally looked up references in the bible about being gay and found nothing. I have read the entire bible and used to be religious, so I am educated on the bible, etc. People who use the bible as a reason that being gay is a sin, obviously haven't read the bible!

I recognise a number of locations in my discipline present babysitting publications exact at age eleven to fourteen. Would I rent an eleven yr historical, or perhaps a 14 yr historical to babysit my youngsters? NOPE. I do not feel there's an eleven yr historical that has the extent of accountability to maintain a small baby. I might rent a man or woman of that age as a mom's helper, to be an additional set of arms on a go back and forth to the mall or the park, or to entertain the children at the same time I do whatever local. The youngest sitter I might rent if I was once truthfully going to be out of the condo might customarily be at minimal 16, a mature 16. That might be for brief intervals of time. Anything past due at night time or for greater than 2 or 3 hours I might a minimum of tuition age, 18+. If you left a baby with any person among the a while of eleven and 14 and whatever occurred, you might be held in charge for leaving your baby with out grownup supervision. Social Services might have whatever to mention approximately that fairly speedy.

Because someone thinks for them, and unfortunately they don't have the reasoning to say that they are wrong.

Look, if god made everyone in his/her/it's own likenes, As they would proclaim. Then god made gay people in his/her/it's own likeness as well. Which, means that anyone cliaming anything different on that basis, has a bias that they can not see past.

The most important thing is what you think of your self. Only you have the power to let others undermine you.

one--i don't really know. even without taking into consideration some people's religious bigotry, if you're not queer to start out with, you wouldn't be attracted to the thought of sex with someone else of your sex. but i suppose many religious homophobes would say that "people are tryin' to rebel against The Lord" or something equally ridiculous.

two--because they realize that their homophobic attitude will look even worse if people generally accept that queer people are born queer.

three--they are ridiculous. they definitely can't think of anything rational or logical to say, so they have nothing left to do but quote the bible.

and Randy W, i know that you're trying to make a point, but i find it a little disheartening when people say things like "no one would choose this." i don't find my own sexuality that abominable--do you? i think people need to stop using that argument to fight bigotry, even though it may work.

i wouldn't choose to be straight if i had the choice. it might be easier at this point in time, but it's not who i am. and no, religious fundamentalists, this isn't me defying your god. it's me being proud of who i am. i wouldn't change myself, if i could, just to escape your persecution.

Here it is, The Meaning of Life:

No matter who you are, or what you do, you're just as screwed up as the next schlub walking down the street. You can quote me. And remember, always DEMAND your right to be just as screwed up as anyone else. Now, stop worrying about it, be true to yourself. Bible enthusiasts don't seem to get it.

I have a one sentence answer that covers all three.

They don't understand how wrong they are because they are not homosexual.

That is it. Only a homosexual truly knows that God made us this way and no one would choose this.
