We must first control the border by whatever means possible before we can begin to do anything else with these illegal aliens. They must be stopped first at the border.

I would have to say it is not the right answer for two reasons.
1) There will be an incident where someone is injured or killed, either as an alien trying to enter the country, or one of the Guard being killed in an accident. This incident will cause the whole deployment to blow up in the media.
2) This is only a short term solution and is designed to look good in polls and on the evening news.
Not that I am brilliant, but my moderately uninformed opinion is we need more funding for border security, many more border patrol units, and better process to screen and vet aliens for visas. The illegal immigrants coming into the country are one issue, but the open borders also mean security threats can get in as well.
Do illegal immigrants really want to be in this country if the methods that let them in lead to wholesale killing of their loved ones? This needs to work better for everyone's safety.

I don't think it is right for this reason. If you check the qualifications for border security you will see that they must be under a certain age to qualify (which the last time I checked a couple of months ago it was 40 years old). if they did away with the age restriction maybe they would have enough people to do the job that they would not need the national guards. :)

It isn't a matter of right or wrong. It's needed. It is unfortuante that many countries have treated their people so badly that they are willing to break laws to get away from it, but the US is a country that many people want to come to, and they all have to wait. It is like that with all countries, if you want to make an international move you have to "wait your turn".
I know it seems horrible that Americans don't want Mexicans coming into the country, but first of all they are all coming over illegally. I've lived in Las Vegas for a few years and I personally see how illegal immigration effects the US citizens. These illegals take away jobs from destitute American citizens who need them. Illegals are willing to work for extremely low wages, which are paid under the table of course, so why would employers want to give those jobs to citizens that will want maybe a couple more dollars per hour (plus taxes the employer would have to pay) if they can get such cheap labor? I've seen it, on more then one occasion, these companies picking up people on the side of the street that are all but begging for jobs.
This in turn hurst the economy in more ways. Citizens then can't find jobs else where because of the unemployment rate, there aren't a whole lot of jobs available. In turn making poverty and poverty striken areas. It needs to be stopped. Why whould we want people to come into our country that aren't willing to give anything back. They aren't paying taxes, very little of them speak English (I'm sorry, I wouldn't go live in France and not want to learn the language, it is something you just have to do). I know this because I see it all the time, you can barely communicate with some of these people, it is ridiculous.
There is no reason for all of this, if you want to move to a different country, there are laws that need to be followed, whether you like them or not. It is about time that someone takes action into putting a stop to the absurd amount of illegal immigrants that cross our borders every day without being caught.
I really hope that this is not another ploy to make American citizens think that there is action being taken to protect our country.

Wrong. Shades of Nazi Germany or the Berlin Wall. National guard?? What is the matter with this President? And what is wrong with the people in this country who think this is OK? I hope that everyone out there understands we are a country of immigrants. Your parents, grandparents, maybe great grandparents were foreigners at one time. The people who enter illegally may not have to do so at all soon anyway. They come here for a better life but all our companies are going out of here and into their countries so pretty soon it won't matter. Maybe we'll be the ones looking jobs in their countries.

iT isnt right or wrong in this situation. There just isnt enough border security. I dont think they should have sent the national guard maybe jsut some local militia but it isnt right to think that it was the wrong thing to do or the right thing to do. Its a matter of personal opinion and if it matters to you so muich then take it the president with my condalances(i dont mean that in a bad way). Tell him that he shouldnt commit that kind of force just to the border security thats Exxecive Force WHICH IS PARTIALLY ILLEGAL.

I don't believe that someone should expect the same rights as a citizen born here or otherwise its not fair. The problem still lies with the companies that would employ these people. Stop them and maybe we wouldn't need to have so many people patrolling the border.

I have mixed feelings about this one...
On one hand, I think the Guard could be more usefull elsewhere in the U.S. and abroad.
On the other, having them at the border certainly is a deterrent and should help reduce the number of illegals crossing the border.
I believe in lawful immigration; the way my grandparents came to the states and became citizens. I think everyone deserves the right to apply for and EARN CITIZENSHIP. i don't think it's fair that we foot the bill, and these illegals don't do their part. I'm all for keeping our big stir-fry, but people have to do their part, educate themselves, etc. .

Its the right answer and should have been done years ago.. our country is full of lame a** people not willing to work or control their urges having children out of wed lock and the government and you and I having to support them.. the border patrol would stop a lot of this and allow our country to heal a little..
