Dryer currently vents to garage - bad news - paint is all coming off ceiling. The vent needs to be moved. I don't know what kind of contractor to look for? Carpenter? Plumber? Electrician?

A handy man could do this for you but you need to consider what quality of work the person does. You get what you pay for.If you want to get the job done correctly then you need to contact a home appliance center and they usually have employees that know what they are doing because it is their profession.

Contractors can be jerks... go to your local hardware store (a mom&pop place if you have one... try a True Value) and ask for a reference for what you want done. Trust me, these are the people that deal with the contractors on a daily basis and know which ones do good work and are honest. They may even have business cards for contractors too.

Technically, a plumber, but you can probably find a firm that does both plumbing and handyman work; have the foreman come and give you their estimate, he can decide which craft is more appropriate. ((Dryer should vent to the outside, but there may be some other circumstance.))

call an HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) person. A lot of plumbing contractors cover this territory. or Sheet Metal person. If you call a general contractor you will pay more than going direct to the appropriate subcontractor.

you dont need a repair person. this is easy and you can do it yourself. cut a whole where it leads to the outside and go to lowes or home depot and buy the hardware that attaches to the dryer vent hose. prolly need a saw and a rubber mallet to cut a whole
