Most medical schools do not require a particular degree, however they do require that you have taken certain classes. My advice to you is find a couple of medical schools that you would like to consider, and find out their requirements.

Some classes that you WILL have to have, no matter what medical school you choose:
Inorganic Chemistry (2 semesters)
Organic Chemistry (at least 1 semester)
Microbiology (1 semester)
Calculus (at least 1 semester)
Physics (at least 1 semester)

The more math and science you take, the easier the MCAT will be. Major in whatever you want in the meantime. Med schools are looking for well-rounded applicants, and some medical schools actually LOOK for non-science majors.

to be a pediatrician, you have to go to medical school. most colleges have a pre-med option as a major under biology. medical schools will accept other majors but you need to have a strong background in biology (especially anatomy and physiology), chemistry, physics and math to pass the MCAT (medical school entrance exams).

good luck and keep following your dreams!

Most colleges have a "pre-med" major.

If not, a Biology major would be best, with a Chemistry minor.

Load up on science - don't take education, psychology, or sociology courses on child development, it will make you look "soft" to your future medical school.

I think you would have to major in Pre-Med. In order to be a pediatrician, you'd have to have medical degree and licence first.
