For the "average" American citizen to survive the inflation and economic warfare this country is experiencing they need to be making more than $5.15 an hour. Wouldn't you agree? Well, because the republicans care so much about the moral, social and cultural ramifications of this country they've so whole-heartedly decided to SUPPRESS a bill that would raise minimum wage to $7.25.
Now that we have successfully increased the President’s personal bank account (don't forget he has interests in oil, natural gas, and gold), don't you think it's time they increase the minimum wage?
How can you continue to believe in the supremist, fascist values of this countrys leaders? Bush and his administration (judges, senators, secretaries) can be rightly compared to Hitler and his rise to power and his beliefs. . . Bush used a national crises to gain a political foothold, like Hitler who used the fire. . .And, they both lobby on highly national, flag-waving, religious, moral regimes.

They both sought to eradicate an “alien” from their country and the WORLD! With Bush., it’s the “terrorist,” and with Hitler it was the Jews. . .

How can you put so much trust in an administration that has gone so wrong?

In addition to economic growth. . it has been shown, that when people believe they are making more then spend more. . Much MORE. . . And, considering the decay. . I'm talking about a joint incentive. . raising corporate taxes and increasing minimum wage. . WHILE. . .cutting down on military allocations. . . It's quite ridiculous what they are allowing. . . Someone quite close to me just recieved 15 thousand dollars as a reinlistment bonus(for the reserves). . . ridiculous. This question is in regards to both the administration and the economy.

Ignoring the Bush-bashing despite how much I might like it.

Republicans nowadays are "pro-business" or basically in economics "supply-siders". It's a view where if the means of producing things, in this case businesses, are able to produce more, it will benefit the economy with higher production and lower prices. Now, if the minimal wage was to be increased, where is that extra money going to come from? The pockets of business owners and companies. This means a higher cost for them which would mean that they aren't making as much money. Since they are not making as much money, they will make less, creating higher prices from shortages and too much demand.

On the other hand, if we did have an increase on minimal wage, it could lead to higher inflation. Companies may want to increase prices to soak up the extra cash. In addition, it would be up to the Federal Reserve to control the inflation. They may choose to do so by increasing the reserve requirement, making it harder for you to get a bank loan. They may also choose to increase the prime interest rate, increaing all other interest rates elsewhere, hurting everyone in the economy.

The economy is a fickle, little thing.

See, republicans are the smart ones that look at the big picture and make sure the right decision is made for everyone. Democrats like to whine and complain that republicans are doing the wrong thing, while the demos do nothing at all.

Republicans know that when you raise the minimum wage, prices also go up. So while you think you are making more money, you are also spending more money. So, if you make minimum wage, you are still in the same position as you were before, but now everyone else who does not make minimum wage is paying more for goods.

Hitler wanted to exterminate the Jews just because they were Jewish. Bush wants to rid the world of terrorists because they kill innocent people for a living. Not the same thing.

My advice is to get educated so you don't have to worry about making minimum wage. If you can't get educated, get a specialized skill that you can use to make better wages.

So basically, quit whining about how Bush is this, and Bush doesn't do this, and go do something about it. If you truly believe something, do your research and make a stand. Until you do that, who are you to complain?

Wow, I bet you save a lot on heating fuel in the winter, with all that irrational hatred keeping you warm and all.

Let's address the economics of your main complaint. Increasing the minimum wage never has, never will, create economic growth. No artificial tampering with free trade, supply and demand, or any other economic factor can positively affect our economy.

Every dollar you FORCE an employer to pay above the prevailing wage will end up in the price of the product. And if that product is not an end-product, than that cost will travel through the process. So it will be Joe Average Tax Payer who pays this wage increase. One, that's not right. Two, that leaves Joe Average Tax Payer with less buying power. So it would be a drain on the economy.

What about people who make more than minimum wage? Are you going to give them a cost-of-living increase too? So we can keep up with inflation?

People who are making minimum wage need to find ways to improve themselves to get a different job. Are you telling me that can't become shift supervisors, store managers, branch managers, whatever? These people are forced to remain in the same job their entire lives (by Bush, no doubt)? My first job was a minimum wage job. I improved myself and moved on. I didn't expect the government to take care of me.

Lesson Two: Nancy Pelosi, Michael Moore, and all your precious Kennedys own stock in Haliburton and oil companies.

Stop being such a lunatic. There is no economic warfare. And stop using words you don't know the real meaning of, like SUPPRESS, fascist, supremist. You also apparently know nothing about history, naziism, Hitler, patriotism, religion, or morals. Good job. You apparently don't know anything.

quite frankly I'm glad the min wage was not raised. why you ask? Because I've been working for 6 years to get my wage raised up to $7.50 an hour, if the minimum wage is raised to $7.25 then my employer will have to raise the wages of everyone who makes less than me to at least $7.25 and pay any new hires $7.25 an hour. They won't be able to raise my wage, in fact they would have to raise the prices of the products they sell in order to pay their employees the min wage! which in turn will raise the price of living... so after 6 years of hard work I would be bumped back down to a minimum wage lifestyle.. that is unless I want to take up a second job at Mickey D's alongside teenagers who are now making what it took me more than half a decade to earn.

So is this question about raising minimum wage or the Bush administration?

2006-06-28 18:54:16 · answer #6 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

raising the min wage would cause small business owners to cut their workforce. less people to do same amount of production work. It won't work out
If I lose people and cannot put out the same numbers on product, my company loses money. If my company loses money, I would be forced to cut more employees jobs, cut production and probably lose customers. Which would cause my company bankruptcy.

So thanks to you and your liberal economic policies, you have bankrupted my business. Think it was worth raising the min wage?

If you owned my business , how would you feel?
