The best Catholic universities are:

Notre Dame
Georgetown University
Boston College
Villanova University
College of the Holy Cross
Marquette
Fordham

pretty much in that order (certainly for the top three)

There are some Catholic universities that aren't particularly good. St John's and Seton Hall are two I would avoid.

Thomas Aquinas College,

They have one major which is a liberal arts degree, but the course load is the equivalent of a double major in philosophy and theology and a minor in math.

They have a seminar method, and they read orginial texts and the great books.

They are a very orthodox Catholic School, and I would suggest visiting first.

I am a grad!

American University in Wash., D.C.

There are smaller ones throughout the country. In my state (Ohio) there are several:

Notre Dame College
Ursuline
John Carroll (Jesuit)
Walsh University (Jesuit)
Xavier University (Jesuit)
University of Steubenville
