if you're a US citizen you can go to taiwan for 14 days without a visa!

Generally 14 days for free... depending on your country of citizenship.
However, I think I remember passing a desk that issued visa's last week when I was there....
So if you find yourself horribly unorganised... I guess you can get one at the airport.
