These cultures intentionally torture the dogs because the more adreneline the better the meat taste. You expect me to respect that??? You respect it! What's next, eating babies! Will you respect that?

To everyone...I don't eat meat OF ANY KIND and I haven't since I was 8 years old and my parents forced me to. On another note, I work with many asians and have been told by both Japanese and Koreans that they eat dog. NOT ONCE did I say ALL japanese or ALL Koreans or even that they eat it ALL the time. That's not really the point is it. My comment was to the dog eaters not the people that like to pretend it doesn't happen or the Japanese that want to get all hot under the collar and try to point fingers. I FIND IT DISGUSTING. This does not make me close minded. I could care less if it's "CULTURE".
Now I posted this question in the Japanese and Korean forum on the same day at the same time because these were the countries that were in question.
If you dont eat dog, then good for you but this comment wasn't for you...so calm the h@ll down!

Actually, the Japanese do not eat dogs. Most Japanese are Buddhist and while pure vegetarianism is not widespread (pork and chicken are popular), the food is very healthy with lots of veggies - and no doggies on the menu.

The Koreans do have a tradition of eating dogs, though (and the Chinese have been known to do that, too). However, it's getting a bit shameful there now, as many foreigners shun this. It's a bit like whale eating in Japan, which is a cultural tradition frowned upon by foreigners.

But who's to say that eating one kind of animal is ok, while eating another kind is not? These tend to be culturally conditioned feelings. I do agree with you that if animals are used for human consumption, raising and slaughtering them should be done as humanely as possible.

To the asker:
Are you actually taking note of what everyone is saying to you? Or are you going to just paste this question into any section that you 'think' might get some attention.

I answered this question in more detail in the Korea section... I wont bother to repeat everything that I said in there, if anyone is interested, they can view it there.

Everyone is getting all excited about this subject and pushing and shoving blame all over the show.
Ok, so the whole world recognises that Korea eats dog.
I want to say this: That does not mean that Koreans do not have hearts, it does not mean they are disgusting. Nor does it mean that they sit down and eat it at every meal.
Dog is actually an expensive dish to order in a restaurant.
It's not common, and its not for the poor.
I know more Koreans opposed to eating dog, than I do who actually enjoy it, so please before everyone gets all defensive about Japan, take just a second to question whether you REALLY think ALL Koreans eat dog. The answer is no.

More about what I really felt about the actual question on the other section... this answer is more to the other replies.

♡Well, everyone has pretty much answered your question already! ☆JAPANESE DO NOT EAT DOGS.☆ Some cultures do, but everyone has to eat, right? What makes what YOU eat any different than anyone else?! If you eat any kind of meat, it all comes from animals. Do you think they want you to eat them? No, but you just do, don't you? THINK ABOUT IT please. ~Do you honestly believe everything you see on websites? Perhaps next time you might want to ASK instead of just accusing without any proof if you have doubt about something you've seen on a website. Better yet, why don't you COME TO JAPAN and see for yourself? I've been here almost 9 years and I know some people who don't even eat meat, of any kind! You shouldn't really confuse Japan with Korea either, there is a huge difference you know.~Dogs are actually pretty expensive here in Japan and they are usually much loved and cared for by the people who own them.♡

You people really get on my nerves!!

WHY don't you check your facts?? Why don't you just come on here and ask "DO Japanese people eat dogs?" instead of barging in and accusing people???!!!

You people that accuse innocents should be ASHAMED of yourselves!!! HOW could you be so disgusting???!!!!

Do you REALLY not know the difference between China and Japan?? The difference between rumour and fact??!!

There are two very useful phrases that YOU should remember next time you want to accuse people of things -
1. You can't believe everything you read!
2. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!

Do you REALLY believe that the animals YOU eat didn't suffer when they died? If so, PROVE it!

Why do you think that dogs are more deserving of sympathy than cows? Or sheep? Or pigs? Chickens? Fish? The countries where people actually EAT dogs are countries which have had a dangerously low availability of protein sources for centuries! That's why they had to eat dog! For the same reason that YOU eat chickens and cows - because they were AVAILABLE!!!!

Anyway, I've just been to your site and searched for 'dog' - strangely enough there was NO mention of Japan! The only thing relevant was an image of a dog that was butchered in North Korea, so why don't you actually paste the URL of the actual page with the lies on, so we can all see it?!

Oh, and before you start with more groundless accusations, Japanese people do NOT eat babies! So just calm yourself down, and go to a restaurant where you can select the lobster of your choice, and they'll boil it alive for you!

LOL.
Hmm I guess you got your butt handed to you.

But just incase you've forgotten the above 10+ messages to you let me just reiterate.

Ahem.........THE JAPANESE DO NOT EAT DOGS!!!
Nor babies for that matter in case you were wondering.

Yes Japanese eat beef, pork, chicken, fish, lamb as I'm sure you do too. Whales are a delicacy, and we eat tuna like crazy.
And as someone else mentioned, horses are also considered a delicacy. But not dogs.

But even IF we did, do I care what you think?
It's the same as someone screaming at me to not eat that lovable, cute, red and white bird specimen just as I'm about to pop a chicken tender in my mouth.
Sounds kinda comical doesn't it?

I'd probably laugh at you and eat the tender anyway. I'd even tell you if it was good, or too salty, or too tender, or not crisp enough. It won't bother me that you're in my face ranting and raving about it. So why even bother?

I don't see anything wrong with eating dogs.
Dogs have been seen as "man's best friend" for a long time, that's why it feels wrong to eat dogs. If man's best friend is a cow or lamb, then it'll be okay to eat dog.
I thing all meat are the same.
Besides, I don't think Japanese people eat dogs anyway.

I have no idea approximately puppy vitamins, however I do recognise approximately cat vitamins and your cat may not be healthful on puppy meals. It does not include taurine that is major to a cat. Aslo I'm certain it is filled with grain, that is nearly carbohydrates and your cat can expand diabetes and end up fats. You have got to be strict for his or her possess sake and feed them prime great species correct vitamin. Feed them even as in special rooms. Take the meals away after half-hour if they do not devour it and refrigerate it. Try once more in a couple of hours. No animal will starve itself simply out of being fussy approximately their meals. The cat might be tougher to regulate, however the puppy will supply in beautiful quick. Pour a few tuna juice over the cat's meals, it will have to make it extra attractive. You can take a look at blending it step by step, however you have got to make a difference or you're risking your pets' wellbeing in the end. More approximately cat vitamins right here:

I lived in Japan for six years, and as far as I know, nobody in Japan eats dog meat.

I have heard that dog meat is eaten by some people in Korea and China -- but only in rural areas.

Japanese do not eat dogs. Never. They would not even think of it.

Koreans eat dog, but it is not widespread.

You seem closed minded and hypocritical.

Most Japanese love dogs. Some dress their dog. Some build a tomb for it. But personally, I think it's extravagant behavior.

I seldom eat meat though I can eat dogs, cats, monkeys, snakes, lizards, insects, etc. I've heard red dogs are delicious.
