Because the atmosphere has moisture in it, and water often acts as a mirror... Well, the chlorophyll in the grass is reflecting off the water particles in the atmosphere, making it look green... Hope that answered your question...

Since green light is caused by copper, I'd have to guess pollution. Hope I'm wrong though.

b/c god used the wrong nail polish to paint the sky today, he normally uses blue (my four year old's answer)- where do you live, it is possible you are seeing the northern lights, they are not only visible in Alaska but I saw them in Albany, New york (me)
