I am thinking of becoming a Theatre Arts teacher for either middle or high school.
Do you remember any of your high school teachers well and if so what did they do to change your life?

My favorite teacher in high school was my Theater Arts teacher. She was kind and lenient. She was real and I could be myself around her. She let every student know she was their friend first and then their teacher. She loved to teach but she also loved to encourage her students to be themselves and pursue their dreams. She always went out of her way to make our classroom expereince enjoyable. She let us watch many movies as rewards for good grades, purchased chiaroscuro makeup and let us practice techniques in class on classmates, took us on field trips to art festivals, and held many pizza parties so we didn't have to eat the not so palatable cafeteria food. I will never forget her.

He wasn't a high school teacher, he was one of my college professors and he was the only teacher bold enough to tell me that my essay writing was horrific and actually work with me to fix it-even with my dyslexia! So to say the least if it wasn't for him I don't think I would have been able to graduate with a degree in History and Summa *** laude without him! If you have the desire to teach as a way to help students develop in ways that will not only benefit them but society as well (so that they can be effective contributors), I think that is the best thing you can.

My history teacher changed my life greatly. When she was teaching four years before I had her she had breast cancer and they thought she was cured but when I had her she found it that it spread to her lungs. She still taught while she was being treated showing us that we shouldn't give up.

Her class was also very hard and hardly anyone passed every year she taught. She taught at the school for over 40 years and it was the same thing every year. The year I had her half of the students dropped out but I passed in the end. This gave me a reality slap because before that history was easy for me and showed me that I needed to work hard in school.

I can answer your question. Yes. When I was in school, I had three teachers that influenced me greatly. Two of my middle school teachers, we called in junior high back then, sorta became like foster dads to me. We only saw each other at school, but their care and encouragement goes with me today. I am 41, and I still keep in contact with them. And in high school, my English teacher, gave me a love of a subject I disliked so much. She encouraged me to read more.
I would tell you to go for it. My mom's ex-students still come up to her and hug her.

I was thinking of telling you about the teacher I slept with in secondary school (that's high school if you're a yank) but then I remembered my old music teacher.

He was a bit of a dorky fella, but his love of music kind of brought out my love of music and he encouraged me a lot even though we liked wildly different styles. I now play about five different instruments and have written over 200 songs. I put that down to him.

I remember my Kindergarten teacher. She loved the arts and we used to paint, dance and make puppets in her classroom. She would read us wonderful stories, whetting my appetite for reading. She noticed that i was creative and encouraged me. She even spoke to my parents about my talents. At that time I was a shy little girl, and she helped me to blossom.
When I went to college, I studied Visual arts and Drama, and later minored in education. Now I teach drama in an elementary school.
