In whatever application you're able to open any type of file, when one alters it and tries to save it, the options will show in the "Save as..." window. Generally, the current type of file will default, but click on the small, black, downward-pointing arrow and other options should show up. Or, press the print screen button, go to Paint program, press ctrl-v to paste image, (edit image, if necessary), then ctrl-s to save and choose .gif image.
