This reminds me of a condition (not necessarily a bad condition) known as therianthropy. Therianthropy is not a very well-known term, and there is still some debate as to the exact definition, but it seems to be a connection to an animal on a spiritual level. Some therianthropes even have more than one connection and can have several.

My animals are the wolf and the fox, the wolf seeming to be more dominant. The connection to the wolf makes me loyal to my family and friends and protective of younger children, while my connection to the fox allows me to be sly and crafty, when I need to be, not to mention shy most of the time.

When I was younger, I believed my spirit guide was the rabbit but further on in my life I have found myself to be of the cat. I often act like a cat so much it scares my parents. I also can communicate with cats, I haven't been able to understand them completely yet, but they understand me. Sometimes I don't even have to say anything, I just think it and they understand. I am a cat. I am able to see very well in the dark, walk silently and I purr when I get a back scratch. Prrrrrrrr. I also can talk to my 3 cats and know what they are saying.

I have a friend that can see Totems. She says that I am a fox. Not quite sure if that is a good thing or not. Best I know foxes are very intelligent so I think its a good thing.
