Please give them my heartfelt sorry for losing a friend.Send them a card and state you will be there for them if they need a friend. If he is going to have a ceremony see if you can help them.I know what it feels to lose a dog you think of like family.I had Queeny for 13 years when she died and it broke my heart. We had a little ceremony and buried her in my back yard under her favourite tree.My neighbour and friend made a cross with her name on it and we nailed it to the tree.

I've never heard of anyone doing anything for someone when their dog died. I guess that's just not traditional around here. We all bury our dogs in the backyard and make it a family occasion. My dog of 13 years died a few months ago and we didn't even really say anything unless people asked. It's more of a private thing, I guess!!

for the person they can have a memorial for the dog like a couple of pictures about the dog in the back yard and for you if you want you can create a littlle sculpture of the dog and get a card i think that person will love that you put so much time into making a sculpture. or you can get someone with artisitic abilities to make the sculpture.

a card, and maybe some flowers, I'd say also in a few day take her out to dinner to get her mind off of things and just people watch, talk, laugh! I feel sorry for her!

I think a general sympathy card would be appropriate. Flowers and a funeral would seem a bit much to me, but you know your friend better than me. However, we do get close to our pets and you recognizing your friend's grief would I'm sure be comforting to him or her.

that depends on the relationship between your friend and their dog. if the pet was like their child then something you would give if it was their child. if the pet was just a pet then something less 'human'. personally my dog is like my child so i'd appreciate something lasting like maybe a stuffed animal like her or a pretty picture frame so i could put her picture in it. jessica

A sympathy card, yes really. People love their dogs (or they shouldn't have them). The dog is part of their family, part of their life.
