I saw Superman Returns this morning and I could not help but wonder if Smallville fans think Kevin Spacey plays Lex better than Michael Rosenbaum does it on television. I won't say what I think. Please give me your opinion only if you are a Smallville fan, and tell me WHY you think the actor of your choice does a better job of portraying Superman's greatest human foe. Thank you!

Guys, please don't post that you hate Superman. I respect your opinion, but that is not what I asked here. Thank you.

first of all people who hate Superman shouldn't be answering this question in the first place! and second of all I thought Kevin Spacey did a good job he seemed more evil than the Lex Michael does on Smallville he actually tried to be good friend to Clark but of course he is becoming more evil each season

Kevin Spacey is a good actor, but not quite right for a Luthor. You realize that Smallville is basically all about Lex Luthor... in all the movies, no one REALLY knows what happened to Lex... now we can see another side of things. Rosenbaum is very in-tune with his character and plays the part so well - very complex, very high-demand...very true to life. He's my favorite character (along with Lois Lane) As far as knowing if they are nicer than the other two actors you mentioned... I would not know, I have never met any of them...

Spacey played the perfect Lex. He took the nod/wink humor of Hackman and layered it with psychopathic undertones. I love Smallville (and all things Superman), but Rosenbaum and Hackman's Luthors would be afraid of this new one. Spacey nailed the part and I found him to be my favorite charector in Superman Returns.

I KNOW THAT KEVIN SPACEY IS A REALLY GOOD ACTOR AND FROM THE LOOKS OF THE TRAILERS,IT DOES SEEM LIKE KEVIN SPACEY IS DOING A BETTER JOB.
BUT I DON'T THINK YOU CAN COMPARE BECAUSE THOSE ARE 2 DIFFERENT LEXES AT 2 DIFFERENT TIMES IN THEIR LIFE.
THE ONE FROM SMALLVILLE IS SLIGHTLY EVIL(& YOUNGER) BUT KEVIN IS THE OLDER AND MORE ANGRIER ,EVIL LEX.
BUT MICHEAL ROSENBAUM IS CUTER THAN SPACEY.

I hate superman.
What is the point in an arrogant, indestructable hero? He can fly, shoot laser beams out of his eyes, bullets bounce off him and he's stronger than a nuclear missile, where's the drama? Why does he fight bank-robbers, it's an entirely one-sided fight.
Also, bear in mind that in Dark Knight Returns, he sells out all the other super-heroes, including the only one that we as mere mortals could ever aspire to be, the bestest superhero of them all, Batman.
Also, does it not bug you that he had absolutely no independent morals? He is always agreeable to whoever is running America at the time. Is he Republican? Democrat? Third party? Who knows?
I assume Supertwat had a purpose during the cold war us-against-them era, but now that the world is so mixed up and enemies could be next door neighbours, isn't it time he just pissed off back to Krapton (and NOT return when comics become mainstream again in a few years).
God I hate him.

well michael does a good lex for smallville, but if he were cast it in the movie, he wouldnt be that good. seeing as spacey is a great actor he takes the role as lex and just runs with it. he is really good in the movie.
so really, they r both good. but in different ways i guess.
