AL: Franciso Liriano

Doesnt have the hype or the team that a guy like Papelbon or Verlander does, but is extremely good for a pitcher.

NL: Dan Uggla

Very good young power hitter. Fairly solid at his position as well. One of the few bright spots on a dismal Marlins squad.

Uggla all the way in the National League assuming he doesn't get hurt again. Papelbon seems to be the odds-on favorite in the American League, but he's a pitcher and a lot can happen during the second half of the year. And have you looked at the Marlins pitching staff lately? Lot of young talent there, but none good enough to take it from Uggla. Kind of reminds me of the Braves pitching staffs of the '90's when they were just coming around.

Unless Liriano falters, he has a leg up on Papelbon especially since a closer won AL ROY last year (Huston Street) and its doubtful they'll award it to a closer again.

Uggla is the front runner but this recent injury could hurt his support. Prince Fielder has been solid. The Cardinals' pitcher Anthony Reyes has begun to look strong. And Hanley Ramirez, Uggla's teammate is doing pretty well too.

Justin Verlander wins AL Rookie Of The year.

Plain & simple he is SO MUCH better.

The only stats that matter is W-L record.

How many wins that guy have?

Justin Verlander already has 10.

Enough said.

I agree with you oin Liriano - he's the Real Deal as far as ptchers go. He got a late start but has been as near perfect as can be, Pappelbon 2nd.

I don't follow the NL as much; but Ugllas stats look darn good.

except the NL manager of the three hundred and sixty 5 days, I actually were pleasantly shocked by the vote casting. notwithstanding the Padres actually choked down the stretch this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, which must have counted hostile to Black, and for Bochy.
