I live in MA and I do barn work at a barn with only 20 horses and recently I helped build their new barn, but I dont get payed...

I would hire you, if I had a barn. It is so hard to find good help these days, anyone willing to work should get payed!

Where you hired or do you just go there to help them because you are friends with them? If you go there and help them because you are friends with them , they are probably taking advantage of you for some free labor. If they hired you then yes they should be paying you for your time.
