no, cutting your hair does not multiply the hair follicles though many people believe that ol' wives tale. It's better though, if you don't shave too closely in case you get hair bumps/shaving bumps.

Shaving an area does not increase the number of hairs that grow in that area. It does, however, tend to make the hair that grows back appear thicker because the "cut" surface of the hair is blunt and coarse, and oftentimes darker than what was shaved away.

Ok the best thing to do is pluck them with a pair of tweezers. If you shave the area the hairs around those "big" ones will grow in again thicker. It won't cause "more" hairs, only fatter ones! So pluck don't shave. You could end up with a beard because you shaved the hairs and they grew back thicker and fuller! Ooops!

There does seem to be a myth about this, so I'll debunk it in the simplest way I know how;
If the mere act of shaving generated new hair growth, men who are balding and want thicker hair would shave their heads. It doesn't work that way. Stubble is more coarse or pokey than an uncut hair, not thicker or more abundant. If your genes don't support more hair growth, no amount of shaving will change that.

No..but it can make the ones you do have come back coarser.

Give it time. Eventually, you'll be wishing you didn't have t shave.
