I think a Gopher is in the Rodent family, and they have those big old teeth in the front & it's about the size of a big rat - a Groundhog - (not sure what family their in) but they get hugh - like the size of a big-fat cat, but they can be made into pets if you get them when their babies. (saw that on Animal Planet)

A gopher is found in the midwestern part of Canada and the United States. Groundhogs are found in the eastern part of Canada and the United States and in the southern parts of the US also. Groundhogs are chubbier than a Gopher.

No Difference.In the east they are called ground hogs and in the west are called gophers.Some even call them woodchucks.
