Consumer Reports says Verizon Wireless is the best provider
It seems like the the "best network" reputation largely attributed to Verizon Wireless is not just a rumor, according to Consumer Reports, which surveyed 12 metro areas. Consumer reports also says that cell phone service satisfaction is generally below average compared with other services they rate and that 26 percent of respondents to their survey reported an overcharge of $10 or more on their most recent bill!

Everyone has their own opinion because cell service is different on every street corner. The best one for you might not be the best one for the next guy. Verizon definitely spends the most on advertisement of their network. According to JD Power T-Mobile and verizon are neck and neck in most parts of the country. T-Mobile has an interactive coverage map that will give you the right expectations of their service at compass.t-mobile.com. No matter what you have two weeks to decide whether or not you like any service before you are locked in and in California its 30 days.

Verizon. Cingular states less dropped calls. I have had verizon for over 2 1/2 years and no dropped calls. They have a LARGE network.

For me it was Cingular, but I would ask the salesperson whether their company has good coverage WHERE YOU USE THE PHONE.
When you sign your contract, you have a grace period during which you can opt out of the contract. That should give you the necessary time to try out their network service.

Sprint/Nextel. DO NOT use T-Mobile thats just my thoughts and Alltel has that circel of friends, where you can have any service included. They only allow up to 10 numbers. And charge 10.00 extra a month for it.

Cingular. Less dropped calls... plus, it has the largest number of subscribers so you get a heck lot out of free mobile to mobile minutes...

I think Alltel has the best with it's MyCircle network. Anyone, any service, as long as they're in your circle.

NEXTEL...They originated the walkie-talkie feature and they have good sturdy phones with features galore. I love my Nextel / Motorola phone and the plan carrier. Bleep! "Can u hear me now?" Bleep! ....And u don't even use up your minutes that way! Get Nextel.

in my opinion i imagine its T-cellular. they have good plans and good phones. They get service everywhere and they don't drop your calls. In Discovery Bay this is demanding to get reception, I actually have sprint and my mom has T-cellular. sprint has no reception yet T-cellular has a good signal and calls are sparkling. try them
