when i saw this movie, it struck me in the heart. i figured it wouldnt be biblical, but i was wrong. it used traditional hebrew language, and it also was realistic. the portrayal of christ was in very vivid and gruesome detail. when it shows the nailing of the feet and hands, it looked so realistic. when they pierced his side with the spear, it was very astounding. it was very heartwrenching.

The Passion is the mother,s love for here child wanting be there for him but not wanting to see it. That is what the movie is set around. All though it shows in detail the torture and crucification of christ the movie is based on the above. Wether you belive or not it is movie you should see it is well done and done from a different view of what may of gone on at the time. I gaurrante you wont be able to not watch it as it draws you in.

I have no detailed critical response for you. In actuality for me the movie brought to light how "real" Christ's death and resurrection were. It was raw and full of extremes with regard to those scenes. I don't wish young children to watch it for that reason, but other than that I think it is very right on and I am glad you have taken the step to watch it. Blessings!

Sure, I'll bite.

Here's the thing: It's skillfully done. It is a technical acheivement. And that a director was able to break box office records with a film in Aramaic is an acheivment in of itself.

But, to me, the film's violence doesn't serve the purpose that was intended. Instead affecting your emotionally/spiritually by depicting Christ's suffering, it's over the top violence causes the viewer to go numb. At that point you aren't watching from a sympathetic point of view, but an empathetic one, which is not what the director intended.

Mel Gibson lost his mind. The begining looked promising but the flogging was pointless, relentless and sadomasochistic. There are no detailed answers because the graphic scenes took up more than 70 percent of the movie. Like beat it into our heads what Jesus went through. Like we know for sure. Im sorry I hope I did okay. I felt very empty after watching it.

As a christian, this movie hits your heart like a brick when you realize how much was done for your life before you were ever born. For non-believers, it is a story i suppose you could say, but if you do believe, it makes you feel so humble in the story that you know in your heart that everything you have learned in your church and childhood is somewhat true and that someone make the ultimate sacrifice for you. Although parts of it may be difficult to watch, it is worth the change it will make in your heart.

The movie was tastefully done and was Mel Gibson's interpretation of the Passion. Myself, I could not sit and watch the torture. It was brutal. I do believe in the Passion and I am sure the Roman Rulers were barbaric, but I just could not sit and watch it.
