Always starts up with no problem first thing but after you drive it then park it in the sun it starts but then cuts off. Then you have to wait 20 minutes to start it again

LanDoctor: It's an '88 Honda Accord LXI. Runs a few seconds, then cuts off.

It depends. Question is pretty vague and doesn't talk about engine temp, climate, carb or efi, model and year, etc. More detailed symptoms like .. it starts for 1 sec and cuts off or will run if I hold the gas petal down but not idle.

It sounds like the TCC soleniod is going out inside the tranny pan if it is an automatic. If its a manual then you got some serious issues with the idle or fuel delivery system.

Get your engine codes examine at Autozone , your throttle position unit , oxygen sensor or both will be undesirable. also you would have a defective gas pump or gas clear out is clogged. you would have water on your gas , attempt including a drying additive on your next good off.

Sounds like you need to check your mechanic or get a new car. My car has never done this nor has anyone else's car that i know of.

check the throttle position indicator, could be off a tad
