They do & they need to follow the correct proceeure (set out by the Environment Agency) depending on the grade of asbestos. A lot of contractors don't do it as the costs & level of equipment needed for teh more dangerous asbestos materials can be huge!
If it is a low grade asbestos then a licience may not be necessary,
High grade asbestos needs to be passed through a transfer station (licienced) and cannot simly be dumped at your local authority dump or recycling centre.

You must not remove asbestos without a proper mask, gloves,protective suit etc. And all asbestos according to EU rules, must be disposed of properly by specialists. It only takes one needle like fibre of the stuff, and you have asbestosis.

Yes I believe they do, I know that the guidelines for removing the stuff are very strict, we had a garage built with it, it was a nightmare trying to find someone who was licensed.

YES - if they don't have a licence YOU could get done by the HSE for employing them

you need to contact the council,if you take it of your self make sure you wet it 1st(dust is only dangerous if dry). asbestos HAS to be disposed of safely.liceance required.
