I think Kwame Brown was the biggest draft bust of the recent future. Any others in your mind?

Michael Olowokandi of the L.A. Clippers, the first pick of 1998. The reason I chose him as a bust, besides the fact that I live in L.A. and that I hated his guts for lack of playing skills, is that he never pan out as a completer center. Elgin Baylor saw something special in him that nobody knows, but I guess he made the wrong choice that almost cost him (if it wasn't for the Elton Brand trade). Now Olowokandi is a reserve and he's never going to be the same player as he was. The other reason was this was one of the deepest draft in recent history, yet the Clippers failed to capitalized (After Olowokandi, there was Mike Bibby, Antawn Jamison, Vince Carter, Jason Williams, Larry Hughes, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, Ricky Davis, and Al Harrington). Just imagine if the Clippers pick any of those guys rather than Olowokandi.

1972 the Trail Blazers drafted Larue Martin with the first pick in the draft, and he wound up being a role player that was so bad that Kwame Brown looks like Tim Duncan next to him. A close second is Michael Olawikandi, but what do you expect from the Clippers.

By far Fredrick Weis. He got dunked on by Vince Carter and never came to the NBA.

Other busts,

Chris Washburn
Sam Bowie

Sam Bowie. Granted he wasn't as bad as Kwame, but he was picked ahead of Michael Jordan. Hakeem Olajuwon and Sam Bowie both were, but at least Hakeem had a great career as well. Not Jordan-esk, but great.

Shawn Bradley, taken in 1993 (I think) at the 2 spot by the Philadelphia 76ers. Penny Hardaway was taken 3rd

I would say jason williams who was drafted #2 by the bulls. He had a motorbike accident. It ended his career.

Len Bias, who died from cocaine use the day after he was drafted.

By the way, what time period do you have in mind with the "recent future"?
