If the belt is turning the transmission pulley, and you can feel it "clicking" thru the gears, you may have a sheared 1\4" key stock on the drive axles.
Have you had the tires and rims of recently, maybe to fix a flat tire. If so, when you pulled the wheel off, you dropped or lost the square key.
Next time you start it, put it in gear and see if the drive shafts are turning inside the wheel. look at BOTH sides.

Check the belt that drives the transaxle. I have a 22hp craftsman garden tractor and it has a hydrostatic transmission and when my son used to use it he would use the brake and the belt would slip off and it is like the transaxle needs replace. Look towards the rear of the tractor underneath the seat and make sure the belt is turning the small fan.

Yes, go over the belt (the upper belt) make sure it hasn't slipped off or broken. If these are fine..... well then the trans it self should be looked at. If the belt still makes the trans drive pulley turn, and it doesn't go.

ITS THE BELTS OR THE TRANNY ,LOOK UNDER IT AT THE TRANS PULLEY PUT IT IN GEAR NOT RUNNING OFCORSE, CHECK THE BELT,IF ITS ON THE PULLEY MOVE THE TRACTOR BACK & FORTH IF THE TRACTOR WILL MOVE CHECK THE PULLY KEY. [THE SHAFT WILL SPIN IN THE PULLY] IF IT DOES SPIN REPLACE THE KEY & THE PULLY. SEARS CAN STILL GET PARTS FOR OLD MOWERS. 1-800-4MY HOME- ASK FOR TECK ASSIST.
