its an old joke -
what do you call a fly with no wings?
a walk.
A similar one is this -
"A spider's ears are in its legs"
"How do you know that?"
"Well, I put a spider on the table and told it to run, and it did. And then I pulled its legs off and told it to run, but it didn't, so it must've gone deaf!"
okay its not as good as the fly, but hey, any excuse to pull a spiders legs off.

Flys already walk. But no if they didnt fly at all then no they wouldn't be called flys the would just be called bugs like all the other things that dont fly....

it does walk, and fly, butterflies were originally called flutterby's I don't know why it was changed, maybe someone else on here does.
