It relies upon. I used to hate the idea of aircon in automobiles too yet on a warm stinky day once you're in heavy site visitors on the attitude to a bridge that is a good aspect. when we are using around the 'burbs and the site visitors pass is nice then no..it continues to be off and we roll down the domicile windows.

Because they weren't cheap. Why didn't cave men need cell phones? Why didn't medieval kings need flushing toilets? Why didn't Abraham Lincoln need television. When something hasn't been invented, you can't need it. Air conditioning is a relatively recent invention. When it was very expensive people chose not to buy it (just like when cell phones or microwaves or TVs first came out). Now it is cheaper and everyone has it.

They don't NEED them now. People drove cars before they had A/C you know. A/C is nice but certainly not necessary.

They didn't have the technology to put a refrigeration unit in a car at that time.
