A mestrual cycle in itself involves ovulation. In a menstural cycle uthe womans falopian tubes drop the egg, if it isnt fertilized then it is dropped down into the uterus and the entire lining of the uterus which if there were a baby it would protect and hold the baby, falls and this is where you get the bleeding from, the blood is really the lining of the uterus along with the egg. if there is no egg, no lining will come out. so actually its vice versa, if you dont ovulate u wont menstrate.

Yes you need it to do so. Irregular cycles mean different things, and your doctor can tell you some of the reasons. I had irregular cycles, because I had cyst of the ovaries. Some bursted on their own, but most of them didn't, and I had to have surgeries for them. So check with you doctor, because he or she can answer alot of questions that you may have better and with more info for you. Kit

you should ask your doctor this question, but i believe that yes, you do need to have a menstrual cycle if you are ovulating.. (period comes after ovulation, btw).. however, you do not need to ovulate to have a period. confused yet? ask your dr.

You will still ovulate every month as long as you have ovaries or even a part of one. You can still ovulate and produce eggs.

No. A lot of runners have no menses due to lack of body fat, but still ovulate.
