What was it the caused the white man to think himself better than the black man when he brought them to America to use as slaves? AND, even though tons of time has passed since then, why do SOME (not all)of the white race still hold on to those notions just as much as SOME (not all) of the black race still hate the white race for something done so long ago but have nothing to do with it now?
This question is not to say that I don't see or think that the racism in all the other races is less important, it's just that I wanted to focus on these two races with this question.

After all what time? If I recall correctly racism didn't end with slavery, in fact it got worse. If racism ended then why couldn't blacks vote 100 years latter? Why couldn't blacks get jobs because they were own by whites and whites didn't want o hire them? Why were blacks house burn down by hate group 50 years ago just for being black? Why were blacks lynch by the thousands in the early 1900's if racism was over. Why was a young Emmitt Till Lynch just for whistling at a white woman? If racism ended why were whites oppressing blacks 50 years ago, and any black who stood up for there self had hoses turn on them. When Malcom X went to school why was he call ****** and coon so much he swear it was his name? If racism ended then why in the 1960's did King say:
"I have a dream that ONE DAY even the state of Mississippi, a desert state sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice."
If racism and slavery ended in 1865 then why were blacks during the Civil Rights movement 100 years latter in the 1960's were singing about freedom. "Oh Freedom" " We Shall Overcome" "Woke up this morning with my mind set on Freedom"
Point is just because slavery ended 140 years ago, and segregation ended 40 years ago do not mean that people have to like or respect you. 40 years is not that long and those people are still here.

It's an age old question my dear. I think your right when you say humans are the ones who keep this race thing going on. Believe it or not there are some blacks that think their better than others just because they have a good job or a bigger car etc. I work with a women (white) who thinks that blacks are under her and that they should not question her etc, she doesn't realize how much of a fool it makes her look. It's a never ending battle around and around we go where it stops I don't think it will...ever!

i detect this a racist view of racism. the great 2 claims are information a lot less and unprovable, the 0.33 declare is cherry picking. I guess there are tonnes of communities which enable in straight forward words blacks. also many neo nazi and white potential gangs are allied with the mexican gangs, jointly with the Aryan Brotherhood and l. a. Eme. really this question tries to excuse black racism even as nevertheless vilifying white racism. You both are hostile to all racism or you're a racist.

we still have this racism bcuz when some white people look at black people they still feel that they are just more important because of thier color. they need to understand that color means nothing. a black person can do anything a white person can do, but they still think that one race is more important then the other.

Because after all this time we are still ignorant when it comes to a lot of things.
Racism is handed down from generation to generation and it is a hard cycle to break.
It would be wonderful if we could all get along and let bygones be bygones but as long as there are people there will be prejudice.
SAD!!

It comes from teaching hatred, father to son, one generation after another. A father who's been behind the woodshed too many times because of his own hateful father, is more likely to be hateful toward his own son. If it's all you know, it'll be all you believe.
Going back to your question about earlier times, whites enslaved the African people because they could. They had better weapons, they had Africans selling Africans to them, they had their greed, and they had the language barrier.
It all adds up to a budding entrepreneur, who just happens to own a ship, making lots and lots of money. And, like it's said now: Money is NOT the root of all evil. Greed is. Slavers knew they were taking free, intelligent people and enslaving them... they just didn't care.

Because nature dictates that we will remain enemies. That will never end, period. As to blacks being resentful about slavery, let them first take up the matter with the African blacks who captured and sold them to Whites. If they cared more about their own people than they did for "shiny baubles", there would have been no black servitude in America.

it's how many hateful people are raised. mommy and daddy hate white people so i hate them too. many people black and white dont even know the real reason why they hate each other it just one of those "just because" things that may never go away or not for a long time at least

We still feel that way because of the way and area we were raised in. In some parts of the country the hatred never died down so kids were raised that way and the views were just passed down from generation to generation.
