make sure my laptop only sends and uploads from my router?i have xp and live in a flat and have had remote comp in my wireless search?

I think you should activate the security settings on the router. Then set up the laptop with the security permissions, then you'll only see the router, and won't see other PCs etc, and more importantly, it'll be harder for them to see you're network.
