Because they find them comfortable. Same reason some women wear thongs, or bikinis.
Why do you think its any of your business what kind of panties they wear? My guess is that, if you're seeing their panty lines from outside their pants, they don't care whether or not you're turned on!

if they are chubby, they use the granny panties to hold everything in and smooth their rolls out.. who would want to see fat people in thongs? if you have a small, toned frame you shouldn't be wearing granny panties!

Maybe your girls are fat. I don't know any girls who wear granny panties. I have nothing against fat people, my girlfriend is fat but she dosen't wear granny panties thankfully. She wears thongs.

granny panties are only good for my heavy periods when i have to wear a pad! and those pads they made for thongs just dont work for me.

the most common reason would be they have their period and the panties are more comfy then a thong. it might be they have no one to wear a thong for so why bother?

Thongs, in my opinion, are disgusting. To have something sitting in the crack of one's *** all day is disconcerting. They are sexy to wear during foreplay and whatnot but past that, its icky... that's why you chauvinist bastard.
