The United States is the Land of the Free, as in Freedom of thought and actions. It doesn't mean free stuff.
You need a license to do stuff (driving, hunting, piloting aircraft) because of safety concerns. Licenses generally mean you've taken a test to prove competence. So any accidents are on you.
You pay taxes to run the government. Don't like your taxes? Talk to your representatives. You are always FREE to change the laws you don't like by putting your thoughts into actions.

You also have the freedom NOT to do things that require licenses, or the payment of taxes. You have the freedom to get on a bus, and go to a new city, and start over. You have the freedom to vote, to oppose/support people you want to represent you, to speak out on issues that you consider important, you're free to buy goods in any store whose prices you can afford, including the dollar store, you're free to work, you're free to do a lot of things you couldn't get by with outside the US. But, nothing IS free in life, nor in america, hence no 'free ride'...

It's called the land of the free. (No slaves)
No one ever said everything is free. OK Democrats think everything is free. But that's where your taxes and liscensing fees come in.
The Bible says, "the wages of sin is death"
But don't worry about it. The Democrats have taxed your wages so heavy all that's left is a little tired feeling. After all they never met a tax they didn't like.

Their are states that don't have an income tax, or state tax you just pay federal tax. I wish I lived in one of those states, Maybe I'll move to Washington state. You are free to live you dream, if you have the brains to do that, or some great talent. you are free to make as much money as you want. or not.

I thought you heard. America is not a free ride unless you're an illegal living here. In that case, you can get free healthcare, pay no taxes, your kids get a free education, etc. If you are a citizen and have been paying your portion, you don't get anything b/c the illegals are draining us dry!

Americans have many freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, but not freedom from taxation. All programs of the government are not free. People must pay taxes to support them.

I'm not suggesting that we should not have taxes ,fees license's and such these are needed to support our way of life . But what I'm saying is that we have some terrible flaws in our government that leads it to excess. I'm posting a question to this right after this.

That's not "free" as in costing no money. It means we have personal freedoms.....freedoms to choose where we live and work and worship, and how we live our daily lives.
If we didn't have taxes, who would fix the pot holes in the roads? Who would maintain our national parks and recreation areas? That just names a couple of things our taxes do.

You pay taxes for your protection (cops) and convience (like highways) a license? The only one I've needed is the one to drive. If you don't like it, you are free to leave you know.
