I had the same problem when I was first put on it...the first two weeks were hell. My therapist said it can take up to 6 weeks for it to regulate in your body. I had a complete loss of sex drive, and I would completely "space out" at work. It was awful, but it eventually went away!
Keep your head up!

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and I can tell you that Prozac is not the best thing to take, the side effects are Nausea, drowsiness, tiredness, dry mouth, impotence, and blurred vision. Now, are you going to tell me that these side effects don't have a harmfull effects on the system. If your body gets used to them that doesn't mean that the drug is ok, it's not. The damage still continues. The alternative to this dreadful drug is ST JOHNS WORT It has now been considered the next best thing to Prozac, but with NO side effects. It can take from 2 weeks to 3 months to get into the system but meanwhile it is doing it's job, it's just that you don't notice it.I prescribe it to my patients and I've had no complaints yet.

Any medications can have side effects. If you've been on it long enough to have adjusted, and the side effects are still bad, talk to your doctor about changing to another med. There are plenty out there, and one might be just right for you.
I'm on Prozac and doing great, but my son tried it once and had horrible reactions. But don't stop taking it without consulting your doctor. Good luck!

Prozac is a form of flouride, a known brain poison. The history of flouride use by the Nazi's is well documented, as is its contemporary use in Russian prisons as a mental straight jacket.
Why are you being told to take this toxic substance? Serotonin deficiency? Well, the best way is not to selectively inhibit serotonin in the synaptic gap which is what SSRI's are purported to do....rather, give your body and brain a chance to synthesize its own by taking l-tryptophan. If this doesn't work, got to something with a broader spectrum of activity: st. john's wort, or Sam-e, which helps to activate both the serotonin system and the stimulatory catecholamines.
And yet, depression can be a result of many things. Wheat and Cheese consumption - both of which are neurotoxic, e.g. casiomorphine and gliadomorphines, - or a lack of meaning in one's life.....psycho-spiritual issues are shoved down with the use of psychotropics.

sweety...prozac is like a bandaid on a dismembered limb. Anti depressants, or life enhancing meds, whatever the he ll it's called these days, is a cash cow for the drug companies. Have you ever just thought about accepting reality and meeting it head on???? And before anyone out there tells you not to listen to what the Therapist says......think, do you want an enjoyable life or you wanna be a zombie? Your choice.

Adjusting to an anti-depressant can take anywhere from 2 weeks to several months. Give yourself a little time before you give up...contact your doctor if you have serious concerns about your meds.

yes. I am alergic to prozac, and begin to feel sick and very disoriented, so I can't take it. Ask for your dose to be lessened or change to wellbutrin, buspar or some other med.
