Function keys are programmable. Throughout Microsoft's programs the function keys are similar in their functions. Um..... F1 is like help for some programs press it and help comes up during some programs and i dont know what f12 does sorry.....

It is context dependent!

Depending on the program you are running, it does different things... in WINDOWS, for example, F1 usually activates a HELP function...

But, again, you should check each program you use for a definition of the "F" keys it uses!

They are like extra function keys. Alt-F4 closes program. On some laptops, combinations with F buttons to stuff like connect to networks or hibernate

F1 pops up Microsoft internet explorer. Not sure what F2 does though.

Overall...nothing. They can be used in combination with other keys such as alt+F4 to exit a program. They can be programmed to use in games and such as well.
