Listen carefully... all of you...
Wrestling is not FAKE... it IS, however, PHONEY... there is a HUGE difference.
When you see someone being bodyslammed off the top rope, there is nothing fake about it, and there is nothing fake about the injuries that occur.
Yes, it is scripted, and the wrestlers know what is supposed to happen before ahnd... however, not all goes as planned.
Example...
The wrestler I used to manage (indie fed) knew he was going to take the US title from his arch nemesis... however, in the middle of the match, he went for the frog splash off the top rope and when he landed, he injured his knee. He got up and finished the match and won the title, as the storyline required... for the next 4 days, he couldn't walk because his knee was swollen to the point he was unable to put any weight on it.
Stone Cold, Batista, JBL, Mick Foley, Brock Lesner, Shane-o Mac, Brett Hart, Sabu, Magnum TA (career Ending), and too many others can attest to the fact that the injuries are real; they can attest to the fact that taking a powerbomb hurts; they can tell you that a metal chair to the head is not a move that you "fake".
It has always been such, and it will always be such.

I'd have to say that people believe pro wrestling is fake because the outcomes to the matches are scripted. One doesn't quantify wrestling as real when the outcomes are predetermined before the matches start. It's hard to argue that some of the moves don't hurt, but wrestlers are trained to protect their opponents from injury and are trained to make the moves look real by selling the damage. As strange as it may seem, there is a way to hit someone with a folding chair and make it sound worse then it actually is. Wrestlers don't cause bleeding by hitting someone with a chair, the wrestler that gets hit "blades" by cutting himself with a small razor, usually concealed somewhere on their person. I could go on, but that should sufficiently answer your question.

This answer is directed to "Bobby"...It is NOT all fake DUMBA$$! If you take the time to actually watch an interview with a WWE Superstar or even better learn professional wreslting or even study it, you will actually discover that its a mixture of acting and wrestling. So calling the person asking this question a dumba$$ has backfired on your a$$. Consider finding out FACT before shooting your mouth off at people with your choice of words.

While the punches and kicks are pulled, you cant fake a 7 foot drop on your back. Its going to hurt and knock the breath out of you.

I would call is scripted not fake. When Ric Flair chops you in the chest and it turns red, it hurts. Its not alot of physical damage, but painful nonetheless. Are they all basically stuntmen? Yes, the practice falling and landing. So yes they are athletes, and yes its scripted, but there is still pontential for danger.
