No, the national anthem of Great Britain is 'God Save the Queen'.

Basically, because no-one knows the words. It is the English Anthem, although, looking at the answers on here so far, no one else seems to know it. Give it another 4 years & absolutely no-one will believe in god anymore & the queen will be brown bread or completely senile, good time for LOHAG to take over.

I think land of hope and glory is much better than our official anthem, which means very little to most people in the UK. Especially if you don't believe in God (like me), coz then who'll save the queen? It's nonsense.

It's a weird one isn't it?

I like Billy Conolly's suggestion of The Archers theme music for the national anthem. Certainly a lot jolier!

Because every British team used to sing "God Save The Queen". However, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland ditched it somewhere around the sixties or seventies because they didn't see themselves as truly British anymore. The English are the only country still proud to be British.
