The most passionate song that I have ever written came in the midst of a very emotional year. I tapped into what I do when I am feeling down and that was worship. I even had an opportunity to perform the song at MegaFest 2005, which led to other greater opportunities. In your most passionate moments, write. Don't think of them as songs, but just write. Try this exercise, write for 5 minutes without stopping or picking the pen up off of the paper and see what will come out. It amazes me everytime I do it.

Ideas for song writting comes from many sources, some times from the experience, adoration or appreciation, desire, or wishes of the song writter. so I'll say you always go about with a writting pad, because yoou might be walking down the road and you get inspired to write you won't be lacking a wrtting material to pen down your inspiration. Just think of what you want to express in your song and begin to find the words that rhymes with your desires , don't worry about the melody yet, it might come separetely. I'll also suggest you start learning the solfa notations and time signatures of a song--that is if you don't know them already. I wish you the best of luck. You don't have to be perfect now, just start writting them first. Go all out and write a song sister.

it's gonna be hard, real hard at first but as time passes on, you'll eventually get better. I read this tip on a website and I found it works and I hope it works for you. 1st. pick your topic 2nd. pray to God that that Holy Spirit helps you write it 3. put pen to paper.
oh yeah, i agree with the person a couple of answers above me, read, poetry and books (fiction, non-fiction, it doesn't matter) is a big help. Also, check some lyrics and read how they're written and then try to incorporate that style with yours.

hope this helps and God bless you.

Just write about stuff in your life. No, I don't mean write about doing the dishes, cleaning ur room, ect...but like if you lose someone, ur bf/gf breaks up w/ u, if u fall in love, ect...and stuff like that. I write songs too, and the average rating i get from ppl is like 8-10....sometimes a 7 or 7.5 but that like pretty low for mine so most are 8-10. lol. write about depressing things...ppl like music that helps them vent w/o yelling, screaming, or killing anyone.lol. hope this helped!

Start by writing poems about whats going on in your life. Eventually try to put a melody to it. Try putting on a chorus built around the title, something that can be repeated.
It would help if you learned to play the guitar. You could find chords based on your melody.

Go through the questions that have the most answers -those are the things people want to talk about the most.

Write songs about grocery stores and internet viruses -I bet there aren't many out there.
